Rocks and Snakes

by Josée

We had an opportunity to learn about rocks at learning circle today. The children were shown examples of sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks and then given pieces to identify. There were some amazing rocks and fossils on display and it was a fun learning experience for all.

After learning circle the children romped through the bush and mud puddles. The two little ones stayed close to my side while my eldest was having adventures of his own. At some point he encountered a rattlesnake and not having any knowledge or experience with snakes he and his friends entertained themselves by throwing rocks and sticks at this venomous snake. I learned about this event after the fact. Thankfully nobody was hurt but we will be learning more about how to properly behave around rattlesnakes very soon.
