Our Last Night in Phuket

by Josée
We spent our last night in Phuket watching the sun set on Nai Harn beach. It felt right to spend our last evening there since that was the first beach and first sun set that we saw in Phuket over a week ago. While we watched the sun set the children played in the water, jumping off the steep back of the channel and rolling in the waves of the sea. As I waded though the warm sea water and watched the sun get lower in the sky I felt grateful for our time in Thailand and sad that it is coming to an end. Tomorrow we are departing Phuket and flying to Bangkok while our friends will be heading south to Ko Lanta for more adventures. I have contemplated ways to extend our time here but short of some major injury or illness, which I would not wish on anyone, I cannot think of a reasonable way to keep us here any longer.

To celebrate our last evening together in Phuket we sent off lanterns. Our first attempt on the beach went awry because of the wind but we managed to send off three lanterns from the street of our rented home. As the lanterns floated into the night sky they carried with them our wishes of blessings and goodness. I believe my wish may have had something to do with returning to this country again one day.
