Nature Walk: Tulips and Books

by Josée

It is a beautiful day outside. The sky is clear with a few clouds. The temperature has warmed up since last week, and I’m finally putting away the last of our winter gear, hopefully for more that three months.

My tulips are blooming. Most of the perennials in my garden are growing back, except for a few that didn’t make it through the winter. There always seems to be one of two that don’t make it.

I was able to spend a bit of time in my gardens this week, weeding and dividing plants. Most of my gardens are perennial flower gardens but there is a small raised garden bed in the backyard that we use for herbs and vegetables. This year we planted peas, lettuce and carrots in there, as per Monkey’s request.

When the weather is nice like this we try to be outside as much as possible. Even if it’s just lounging on a blanket reading books. About reading books, I just noticed that Bird and Little Bird is starting a Read Aloud Book Along for the month of June. I think that it might be a fun activity for us to do during the month of June, especially while we lounge about in the sunshine.

What is your camera trick? The flowers appear to be floating! Wow! Such a lovely way to draw the beauty out. 🙂
Glad it's warmed up there. My winter gear has been washed and is in bags, but still hasn't made it to the storage area… These cold nights have me wishing for wool socks still.

I'm still amazed how this area (Latvia) was such a 'resort' for the Soviets. They just like things a little more brisk, I guess.
(Sorry for the randomness…)
