Kettle Valley Rail Trail

by Josée

Exploring new areas around our home brings us a sense of wonder and excitement. Today my sister and her husband join us on a walk/run along part of the Kettle Valley Rail Trail. It was my first time trying out the KVR but I had heard about it from many of the locals. The trail was wide, flat and other than some patches of mud and hard packed snow, which can be expected at this time of year, the trail was very stroller friendly.

As we moved along the trail my sister, who is completing a degree in physical geography, pointed out some interesting rock formations and organisms. We saw some lichen and conglomerate rocks. As I was taking pictures of rocks my eldest was climbing them with his uncle.
While it wasn’t a sunny day it was mild with no wind. Just as we finished our adventure snow started falling and we were all eager for the warmth of home.
