Mardi Gras Masks for Children

by Josée
Last night I made two Mardi Gras bird felt masks. I didn’t used a pattern but these masks were an inspiration. I used a piece of paper to trace out the approximate distance between their eyes and measured the circumference of their heads. With a few cups and plates I traced the outline of the masks onto felt pieces and sewed the pieces together. The masks were a hit and my two little birdies immediately began building nests and laying eggs

We also made some paper masks (free printables) with sparkles. I rarely let my children use sparkles and now I remember why. Despite my efforts to contain them there are sparkles everywhere. At least they had fun.

Wow, Josee, your masks are gorgeous! We didn't make masks, but we ate lots of pancakes for dinner tonight.

I loooove these!! What a great idea. You are so talented. You could sell those in an Etsy shop and make a ton.

Thanks Elisa! Oh man! I don't know if I could open an Etsy shop. Seems like it'd be a lot of work.

I love those felt masks! So creative and fun. I especially like the detail on the "feathers".
