It’s true, we have a crush on Tinhorn Creek Vineyards! As far as family friendly vineyards go in the South Okanagan, Tinhorn Creek is one of our favorites. For starters, their summer concert series are a blast for the whole family. A month ago we spent the evening dancing to the tunes of the Pernell Reichert Band; I wrote about our last concert experience here. Just recently, we grooved to the reggae sounds of Freeflow and it was great to see so many families with kids enjoying the music. A few tips for bringing children to these concert events: arrive early to get close parking and good seating (sign-up for Crush Club to skip the line and get VIP treatment), bring snacks and water (or buy popcorn from Hungry Frog Organics), dress them in clothes that can get dirty (think: grass stains) and listen to the safety tips at the beginning of the show.

As for exploring the rest of the vineyard, the Golden Mile Stamp Mill trail starts at the winery, goes through the vineyard and into the hills beyond. The views from this short hike are beautiful and it’s a great place for kids to explore. If you want to have a little picnic on the hike there are some picnic goodies for purchase at the wine shop. As far as tours and wine tastings go we haven’t attempted either of these at Tinhorn Creek as we tend to avoid wine tastings with our three curious children. Wine shop + three curious kids = potential for trouble. That being said I did notice a nice little colouring table set up by the wine shop and my interactions with the staff have all been very positive. Maybe a tasting with kids would go along just fine. Regardless, if you’re travelling through the South Okaganan with children, be sure to check out Tinhorn Creek Vineyard!

I’m glad that the rain stopped and we got to see such a pretty rainbow.
