Spring has officially sprung! For many of us in the Okanagan Valley it’s a welcome relief from the long cold winter we’ve experienced. I love spring. The warm sunshine and colourful blossoms. This season fills my heart with hope and gladness. It also means my birthday is coming up and I sure enjoy a good birthday cake.
Despite the arrival of spring, there’s still plenty of snow in the surrounding mountains. This past weekend we enjoyed our favourite winter activities at Baldy Mountain Resort. We skied down sunny slopes, went sledding at the Magic Carpet and engaged in a snowball fight just for good measure.
Yet our days of winter fun are coming to an end… and I feel bittersweet about it. Usually by this time of year I’m beyond ready for winter to end. In fact, I usually pack away our winter gear by mid-March, regardless of the forecast. But this year has been different, we’ve really enjoyed winter and I chalk it up to learning to downhill skiing as a family!
With the arrival of spring we’ve been tuning up our bikes and dusting off our hiking boots. We have a growing list of new trails to explore in the Okanagan Valley, all of which will be added to my family friendly Okanagan Trail Map over the next few months.
