The Pharmasave Okanagan Falls Junior Triathlon (a Kids of Steel event) recently had its sixth event and as expected it was awesome! Registration opened on April 1st and all spots were filled by the afternoon of the same day, which is crazy fast.
This junior triathlon is FREE and a great opportunity for kids aged 3 to 13 to be introduced to the fun of a triathlon. As with all triathlons, this junior triathlon has tree events: a swim (a run through shallow water), a bike and a run. There are five age divisions and the course is adjusted for each age group. Each child is a winner, receiving a finisher’s medal and a little treat at the end (chocolate milk and a cookie).
My kids were so excited to participate in this event once again, making it the third year they’ve participated. I just love how family friendly and positive this whole event is. My favourite part is watching the littlest participants race, it’s cuteness overload. A big THANK YOU to all the organizations, individuals and volunteers who worked so hard to make this great event happen!
No-Shows!! This year there were thirty no-shows which meant that thirty children on the waitlist were not given the opportunity to participation in the event. This is a big bummer and the organizers of the event may need to start charging for the event if this continues. So please, if you sign up your child do come, it’s a great event! Registration for next year’s Pharmasave Okanagan Falls Junior Triathlon is on April 1st, 2018 at 3:00 am. Mark it on your calendar!
