Mad Monkey 2.0 Kid’s Climbing Shoes Review + Giveaway

September 19, 2017

Mad Monkey 2.0 Kids Climbing Shoes

Mad Rock makes some great rock climbing shoes for adults and kids. Their Mad Monkey kid’s climbing shoes are so popular they were updated to add some awesome new features and makes them even better! This past weekend my daughter took her new Mad Monkey 2.0 climbing shoes out to the test them on the rock. Here’s how they stacked up.

Easy to put on

The first thing I noticed about the Mad Monkey 2.0 shoes is how easy they are to put on little feet. The large Velcro strap over the top of the foot opens really wide and makes it for little feet easy to slip in. My daughter had no problem getting them on and off by herself. I can still remember how difficult it was to pull on my Teva climbing shoes when I was a kid – no fun!

Adjustable

Kids feet come in all shapes, size and are constantly growing! The large Velcro strap over the top of the foot can be adjusted for foot width while the two rear closure straps can be adjusted for foot length. The adjustable Velcro straps on the Mad Monkey 2.0 climbing shoes allow kids to get the perfect fit to scamper up rock walls without worrying about discomfort or loosing their shoes.

Soft and Supple

The Mad Monkey 2.0 climbing shoes are designed to be super soft and supple so that kids are happy wearing them all day long. The tops of the shoes are made out of stretchy SynFlex upper and their R2 rand system for ultra comfort. This means there’s no pinching or scratching around little ankles and no need to “break” them in. My daughter wore her Mad Monkey 2.0 climbing shoes for three hours straight the first time with no complaint.

Great Grip and Edge

When put to the test the Mad Monkey 2.0 climbing shoes performed excellently. The shoes have a nice edge for catching small ledge and great rubber for smearing and gripping.

My daughter’s thoughts on wearing Mad Monkey 2.0 climbing shoes?

“I liked that they were wider than my other shoes and had Velcro to make them longer. They were nice and warm which I like because my feet get very cold. Also, I like the colour.”

Good kid's rock climbing shoes makes for a confident little rock climber. @alloutkidsgear Click To Tweet

My daughter’s favourites, too (though now she’s outgrown them ☹). I’ve noticed that they’ve switched over to mostly these in the kids’ rentals at our gym, as well.

We love these shoes. My son has done great in them. Now we need a new size. Why do kids have to grow?

I’ve never owned a pair of climbing shoes in my life but have always been a monkey. We just last month signed up for the local campus climbing wall membership and our daughter Chloe climbs constantly with us now! The only tough part is that they do not have any children’s shoes small enough for my children, so the shoes they give her are big and floppy on her. A pair of climbing shoes is currently out of our budget, but a Dream for the near future! These shoes look awesome! I’m excited to learn more about them and other climbing products as we start this family hobby and hope to grow more and more with it! ♥️
