Playa Carrizalillo, Puerto Escondido

by Josée

Playa Carrizalillo is a short stretch of beach snuggled in a cove located in the Rinconada of Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca. To access the beach you must descend many steps, about 160 of them. The water is much calmer on this beach making it a good place for swimming. It isn’t a great place for surfing though, if you want to learn to surf contact Celestino through Puerto Surf Lessons.

We spent our morning on Playa Carrizalillo swimming, snorkeling and attempting to surf which was mostly unsuccessful. So far, this beach is one of my favourite kid friendly spots. The waves are smaller making it easier to swim and play in the water. The children also had fun playing with the surf boards we rented which made me feel better about not using them much to surf.

I like Theo's big sun hat it reminds me of his home pirate hat. Have fun.
